IsoTis Products
IsoTis OrthoBiologics has a product portfolio of innovative and proprietary natural and synthetic bone graft substitutes. IsoTis' flagship product family is Accell - containing osteoconductive and potentially osteoinductive bone graft substitutes. IsoTis products have been used safely and effectively in more than 250,000 patients to date.
Principal Applications
IsoTis' products are primarily used in these procedures:
• Spinal Fusion - Degenerative disc disease, characterized by a progressive compression of the intervertebral discs, afflicts nearly half the US population between 40 and 60 years of age and approximately 90 percent of Americans older than 60.
• Trauma - Over 500,000 orthopaedic fractures occurring annually in the US eventually progress to delayed union or nonunion fractures. Among fractures not resulting from osteoporosis, sports injuries and automobile and heavy machinery accidents are the main causes.
• Joint Revision - Hip, knee, shoulder, and small joint replacements are common orthopaedic procedures designed to restore the function of joints, most often necessary due to advanced osteoarthritis.
• Bone Void Filling, Iliac Crest Backfills - When a tumor is removed, or another type of bone void exists, bone graft or a bone substitute will usually be utilized to replace lost volume and provide an osteoconductive material to encourage bone growth.
Product development
Our technology platforms are highlighted by our unique Accell technology; our proprietary demineralization processing; and our proprietary reverse phase medium technology. Each of our current products combines two or more of these technologies.
As we look to the future, we are developing several new products based on these platforms that we anticipate launching in 2007/2008. At the same time we regularly evaluate external opportunities to grow our business through strategic investments. To assist us in assessing technologies, we established a Scientific Advisory Board comprising highly respected scientists and clinicians. We believe we are well positioned to capitalize on our in-house potential and to react rapidly to external opportunities. IsoTis is committed to continue to lead the orthobiologics market. We aim to be a pure play orthobiologics company with a best in class sales organization, superior products, and a pipeline of novel technologies to sustain long term growth. |
